TWEIP MULTIPLE SUPPLIER CERTIFICATION PLAN

The Multiple Supplier Certification Plan stipulates that through a published Expression of Interest, the Program will shortlist those Motor-Pump set Suppliers with a firm list of criteria who can supply quality equipment that can deliver the energy savings being propagated by the USAID TWEIP. Internationally accepted Inspection and Certification Companies will be used to perform Certification of Pump and Motor Data (Head, Flow, Efficiency, etc) on all offered Pumpset Models based on ISO-9906 Motor-Pump set Testing Standard paid for by each participating motor-pump set Supplier. This Certification will ensure that all products that are enrolled in the Program have the same range of high Energy Efficiency, at similar head and flow conditions. This is essential to ensure that farmers receive similar Energy Efficient Motor-Pumpsets regardless of the manufacturer they choose. Additionally, it ensures that the Program does not promote motor-pumpsets that are too far apart on Energy Efficiency and most definitely on Cost. The Certification Program will also aim to shortlist only those Motor-Pump set Suppliers who have the “financial ability” to undertake motor-pump set production to the scale demanded by the Program or DISCO region.

Certification:  In preparation for the launch of TWEIP, SGS was selected as the Certification Company on 10 Oct. The Expression of Interest to Pump Suppliers was issued on 14 Oct. SGS has completed inspections of the test bed and motor-pump sets, followed by Performance Tests of various types and models of motor-pump sets as per ISO 9906 of 8 motor-pump set Suppliers. The current status of the “certification” inspection of the various motor-pump set suppliers is as follows:

Certified and Participating:

• FlowPak Pump Industries Pvt Ltd. Lahore.
• HMA Pumps (Pvt) Ltd. Karachi.
• KSB Pumps Company Limited, Hassanabdal.
• MAK PUMPS Peshawar.
• Pakistan Engineering Company Ltd (PECO), Lahore.
• Victoria pumps, Lahore.

Undergoing Certification Process:

• Golden Pumps Gujranwala
• T.S.K Engineering International Pvt (Ltd), Peshawar.

Pump Suppliers:   Letters of approval have been issued to six pump suppliers: MAK, FlowPak, PECO, KSB, HMA and Victoria pumps for various motor-pump sets for “participation” in the TWEIP. Thus six major pump suppliers are now “participating”. Two more (Golden Pumps and T.S.K Engineering) are undergoing Certification Process.
